EXCELLENT Based on 437 reviews Posted on Spencer RichardsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark came & saw us with a mouse issue. Was very knowledgeable & carried out a survey of the premises. We have used the firm before - very reliable & flexible with appointments. Gave piece of mind & fees are very good.Posted on Jac BarsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a problem with our loft electrics being chewed and stripped. Our initial thoughts were mice or squirrels, but on talking to Mark he was pretty certain it was in fact Parakeets. On his arrival at our property he confirmed within minutes that it was parakeets and exactly where they had got into the roof. Through an external extractor fan cover which they had broken through and nested in our eaves (who knew!). Mark really knew his stuff re their behaviour and was excellent, fixing the issue quickly and efficiently. I’d not hesitate to use him again for any pest problems we have in the future.Posted on Rishi HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve used A&H a few times over the last couple of years and always find Mark and the team to be very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.Posted on Jocelyn D’SouzaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark was great, contacted me past working hours and came out the following day. Had a rat in the toilet drain, he came, laid bait and advised on remedial action. Really helpful and would recommend him to anyone!Posted on Neil RamsdenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just had solar panel bird protection fitted. very neat and very happy with the service I highly recommend. Much better than the plastic ones used by a lot of solar companies!Posted on ElliottEKATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A&H Pest Control were excellent from start to finish. They came round same day I called, confirmed the noise was mice after finding droppings, and thoroughly laid poison in all the affected areas. They were professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. After about 10 days the noise completely stopped, which shows the treatment worked. Very happy with the service and would definitely recommend A&H Pest ControlPosted on Camilla DeweyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used A&H for pest control. Excellent service and Mark was very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend.Posted on Will FairleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top guy, top service! We heard noises in our roof space, saw the brilliant reviews, and contacted Mark who came round the next day. Based on our conversation, and even with extremely limited access to the roof space, he thought a squirrel may have moved in; he set two traps and returned a week or so later when we felt we hadn’t heard noises for a few days. Mark was right; a squirrel had been caught and the problem is now solvedPosted on Jp DavieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Professional and quickPosted on Gerald MasonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark had been fantastic helping us with a pest problem in our cellar. He comes out quickly, explains clearly what the issue is, answers any questions we have, and is very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. Thanks Mark!
If you’re looking for the safest option with the least disruption, professional wasp nest removal wins every time. A&H identifies species correctly, locates all active entry points, applies targeted treatments that reach the queen and core combs, and uses height-safe access and full PPE. Most nests are resolved in a single visit, with clear aftercare and prevention advice. DIY sprays, by contrast, rarely penetrate deep nests, escalate aggression, and often drive wasps into rooms through downlights or extractor fans.
Retail sprays typically hit outer workers and the mouth of the entry hole, not the inner combs where the queen and brood sit. The result is a partial kill: surviving workers become defensive, and the colony shifts deeper into voids.
A common DIY step is to seal the gap. That traps foragers outside and the colony inside, forcing them to chew new exits—frequently into the property through ceiling roses, bathroom fans, or light fittings. This is when we see panicked calls and multiple indoor stings.
Treating bees (which need humane handling) like wasps causes ethical and, sometimes, legal issues. Hornets behave differently and require enhanced PPE and a modified method. Even between common vs German wasps, entry patterns and void positions can alter the approach. Wrong ID = wrong method = bigger problem.
Most nests are in eaves, soffits, and loft voids. Working at height without training and proper equipment is dangerous. A misstep on a ladder or in a loft is a far greater risk than people expect.
Many colonies run two or more entry points. DIYers often treat the obvious hole and miss the secondary, guaranteeing resurgence.
Sealing too soon restarts the problem; sealing too late invites repeat nesting next season. DIY lacks the timing discipline and materials knowledge to finish the job cleanly.
We confirm whether it’s wasps, hornets, or bees, and identify all active entry points. That dictates the safest timing and treatment so we reach the queen and core combs on the first pass.
For concealed nests (eaves, wall cavities, air bricks), we use professional dusts placed directly in the entry route so workers carry it deep into the nest. For exposed nests (shed rafters, hedges), we use staged sprays. The goal is fast knockdown with minimal agitation.
We work at height with compliant ladders/access gear, protective suits, veils, and gloves. We set a safety perimeter, brief occupants, and keep the site controlled from start to finish.
If there are secondary holes, we treat them too. Missing one access point is the most common reason DIY fails and activity returns.
We tell you exactly when to expect silence, when to seal the entry, and what simple proofing to add so you don’t host a fresh colony next year.
Factor | DIY Wasp Removal | Professional Wasp Removal (A&H) |
Safety | High risk (stings, falls, misidentification) | Trained, insured technicians with PPE and safe access |
Effectiveness | Often partial; queen/comb untouched | Targeted agents reach core combs and queen |
Aggression | Likely increases after partial spray | Controlled, staged methods reduce agitation |
Property Risk | Blocking holes forces wasps into rooms | No premature sealing; monitored cessation |
Time to Resolve | Repeat attempts common | Usually one visit, same-day reduction |
Total Cost Over Time | Higher (repeat sprays, damage, pro call-out later) | Competitive and cost-effective one-and-done |
Aftercare | Guesswork on sealing and proofing | Clear timing, prevention, and simple fixes |
Legal/Ethical | Risk if bees misidentified or hornets mishandled | Species-appropriate, humane, compliant methods |
Visible nests feel simpler, but the risk remains. A direct blast rarely neutralises the comb fully; agitated workers stream out and can sting repeatedly, especially in confined spaces. Our staged approach controls the airspace, applies treatment precisely, and keeps people well clear until it’s safe to re-enter.
Waiting lets colonies grow from modest clusters to thousands of workers with strong defensive behaviour. Even in late autumn, when colonies decline, new queens often overwinter in the same building fabric. If you don’t treat and then seal correctly, you’re likely hosting a new nest nearby next year. Early professional removal is safer and cheaper overall.
If you’re seeing wasps around downlights, bathroom fans, or sockets, the nest is likely in a wall or ceiling void. DIY sprays at the exterior mouth rarely reach the core; blocking the hole forces wasps into rooms. We treat via the correct entries, then brief you on safe sealing.
Bigger insects, bigger risk. Hornets require enhanced PPE and controlled timing. DIY attempts here frequently end in multiple stings and urgent call-outs.
Loose insulation, low headroom, and awkward rafters make lofts hazardous. We use controlled access, PPE, and the right equipment to avoid injury and contamination.
Call 020 8295 3402. We’ll ask where the activity is, when it’s busiest, and whether anyone has a sting allergy. We then schedule the most suitable slot—fast.
We observe from a safe distance, map flight lines and entries, and set a safety perimeter to keep family, staff, and neighbours clear.
We decide whether to treat from outside at height, from a loft, or both. We avoid destructive access unless absolutely necessary for safety.
We apply professional dust/spray to one or more entries so the treatment reaches the queen and core. For exposed nests, we stage the spray and retreat sequence to control airborne workers.
We confirm the expected reduction timeline (often same-day), explain what to watch for, and set the right time to seal.
Most nests are one-visit solutions. If multi-entry or unusual fabric is involved, we schedule a quick check to ensure full cessation.
Small, well-timed fixes prevent a repeat colony next season.
Wasps can sting multiple times, and disturbance releases alarm pheromones that recruit others. Typical reactions range from pain and swelling to life-threatening anaphylaxis (breathing difficulty, facial swelling, dizziness). If anyone on-site has a known sting allergy, treat the situation as urgent and keep well clear until we attend.
For concealed nests, once neutralised, the paper structure dries and becomes inert. Physical removal isn’t normally required, but we’ll advise if cosmetic removal is desired.
You’ll see a sharp reduction the same day in most cases, with full cessation following quickly. We’ll set expectations on-site.
No—never before we confirm inactivity. Premature sealing forces wasps into the property. We’ll tell you when to seal.
Once you factor in repeat DIY attempts, damage from blocked holes, extra sprays, and the final call-out, professional removal is typically more cost-effective—and far safer.
We don’t do quick sprays and hope for the best. We solve the problem properly, safely, and with minimal disruption.
Skip the risk and the guesswork. For fast, safe, and reliable professional wasp nest removal, call A&H Pest Control on 020 8295 3402. We’ll eliminate the colony, protect your household or workplace, and help you keep wasps away in future.
