EXCELLENT Based on 437 reviews Posted on Spencer RichardsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark came & saw us with a mouse issue. Was very knowledgeable & carried out a survey of the premises. We have used the firm before - very reliable & flexible with appointments. Gave piece of mind & fees are very good.Posted on Jac BarsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a problem with our loft electrics being chewed and stripped. Our initial thoughts were mice or squirrels, but on talking to Mark he was pretty certain it was in fact Parakeets. On his arrival at our property he confirmed within minutes that it was parakeets and exactly where they had got into the roof. Through an external extractor fan cover which they had broken through and nested in our eaves (who knew!). Mark really knew his stuff re their behaviour and was excellent, fixing the issue quickly and efficiently. I’d not hesitate to use him again for any pest problems we have in the future.Posted on Rishi HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve used A&H a few times over the last couple of years and always find Mark and the team to be very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.Posted on Jocelyn D’SouzaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark was great, contacted me past working hours and came out the following day. Had a rat in the toilet drain, he came, laid bait and advised on remedial action. Really helpful and would recommend him to anyone!Posted on Neil RamsdenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just had solar panel bird protection fitted. very neat and very happy with the service I highly recommend. Much better than the plastic ones used by a lot of solar companies!Posted on ElliottEKATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A&H Pest Control were excellent from start to finish. They came round same day I called, confirmed the noise was mice after finding droppings, and thoroughly laid poison in all the affected areas. They were professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. After about 10 days the noise completely stopped, which shows the treatment worked. Very happy with the service and would definitely recommend A&H Pest ControlPosted on Camilla DeweyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used A&H for pest control. Excellent service and Mark was very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend.Posted on Will FairleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top guy, top service! We heard noises in our roof space, saw the brilliant reviews, and contacted Mark who came round the next day. Based on our conversation, and even with extremely limited access to the roof space, he thought a squirrel may have moved in; he set two traps and returned a week or so later when we felt we hadn’t heard noises for a few days. Mark was right; a squirrel had been caught and the problem is now solvedPosted on Jp DavieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Professional and quickPosted on Gerald MasonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark had been fantastic helping us with a pest problem in our cellar. He comes out quickly, explains clearly what the issue is, answers any questions we have, and is very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. Thanks Mark!
Not all nuisance birds behave the same. If you want lasting results, you need bird control that’s tailored to the exact species on your roof, façade, or solar panels. This page explains the main bird species causing issues in London and Southern England, how to recognise their activity, the risks they create, and the humane, warranty-safe solutions A&H installs to stop the problem for good. For fast advice or a site visit, call 020 8295 3402.
A one-size-fits-all approach fails because each species has different habits, nest sites, and pressure levels.
Understanding which birds you have lets us choose the right system: mesh, netting, post-and-wire, spikes, access sealing, or targeted deterrents—installed legally and humanely.
Constant cooing, repeated landing on parapets and ridge tiles, accumulations of droppings along ledges and around gutters, and tell-tale nesting debris (twigs, feathers) are classic signs. Under solar panels, you’ll see feathers and fouling washing into gutters and downpipes.
Pigeon fouling is acidic and stains façades, corrodes fixings, and reduces solar panel output. Under-panel nesting blocks airflow, traps debris against wiring, and can increase fire and electrical risks. Heavy fouling around entrances is a slip hazard and looks bad to customers.
Loud calling, dive-bombing in nesting season, and nests made from grass, rope, and scrap on flat roofs. Eggs and chicks appear in late spring/early summer. Fouling streaks on skylights and plant enclosures are common.
Aggressive behaviour toward staff and the public; fouling on walkways and roof plant; blocked drains; damage to roof membranes from nesting materials; litter pollution.
Chattering calls, sticks dropping from chimney pots, and sudden blockages in flues or vents. They’re agile and will enter surprisingly small openings.
Fire and CO risk from chimney blockages; debris in extractor vents; displaced soffit boards; noise and mess in lofts; occasionally damaged cabling near nest sites.
Fast, darting flight to small openings; chattering flocks; clusters under tiles and fascia edges. Warm cavity walls and ventilated façades are prime targets.
Fouling build-up beneath roosts; noise at dawn and dusk; mites and insect spill-over into occupied spaces; contamination around air intakes.
Cheeping colonies in spring, constant in-and-out flights to rectangular vents or tiny cracks along soffits, and light straw nesting materials around openings.
Loud nesting noise near bedrooms or offices; debris pulled into ducts; fouling below nests; potential insect transfer from nest materials.
Pairs perched repeatedly on TV brackets, ridge tiles, and solar panel edges. Soft cooing, small twig nests, lighter fouling patches than pigeons.
Fouling on patios and below panels; light blocked by droppings on modules; recurrent nesting under under-supported panel edges.
Distinct calls, large twig nests, deliberate manipulation of loose flashing or flimsy deterrents, and raids on bin areas.
Pulled-up felt or flashing; dislodged cheap spike strips; scattered waste attracting more pests; loud territorial calls.
Bright green birds with loud calls, frequenting parks and large gardens. Chewed timber at vulnerable soffit edges or bird boxes; aggressive displacement of smaller birds.
Chewed wood and sealants; fouling on patios and outdoor seating; noise in early morning and evening.
Tidy food sources and feeders away from entrances.
Species / Sign | Typical Hotspots | High-performing Solutions |
Pigeons | Ledges, signs, under solar panels | Solar panel mesh, spikes, post-and-wire, netting, clean-down |
Gulls | Flat roofs, parapets, plant enclosures | Heavy-duty netting, post-and-wire, robust spikes |
Jackdaws | Chimneys, vents, eaves gaps | Cowls/guards, vent grilles, soffit sealing |
Starlings | Tile edges, façade vents, eaves | Micro-mesh covers, fine-gap sealing, targeted spikes/net |
Sparrows | Vents, tiny soffit cracks | Rigid vent grilles, insect mesh, detailed sealing |
Doves | Panel edges, TV brackets, small perches | Panel mesh, discreet spikes, routine clean |
Corvids | Roof details, bins, flimsy deterrents | Heavy netting, correct tensioning, secure fixings |
Parakeets | Soffits, garden seating/pergolas | Edge protection, robust netting, food-source management |
If you’re noticing two or more, you likely have established roosting or nesting. The earlier we intervene, the simpler—and cheaper—the fix.
A&H designs species-specific, durable systems fitted by trained technicians so you get a safe, legal result that lasts.
All wild birds are protected by UK law. That means no harm, no interference with active nests, and all measures must be humane. Where the law provides for action to protect public health or prevent serious damage, we follow the required licences and timing windows. Our approach: survey first, choose the least intrusive effective method, and document what we do. You stay compliant; the problem goes away.
Tell us what you’re seeing and when it happens. If it’s safe, send a couple of photos from the ground. We’ll confirm likely species and the right fix, then provide a clear, competitive quote. Call 020 8295 3402.
