EXCELLENT Based on 391 reviews Posted on Rob & Theresa BlazyeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark customer service was excellent from the start. I filled in an online form and the next day he called me and we talked through the pigeon problem we were facing with our solar panels. He was able to come the following week and install the pigeon proofing. We had a few companies either never answer my emails or come and say that can't do it without an expense cherry picker or scaffold. Mark is polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. The mesh installed is top quality and all the cornering lines are matched up neatly and there isn't any overhang. Would 100% recommend him for your pest control needs.Posted on Dean BakerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a problem with pigeons nesting underneath our solar panels. Mark and his team at A & H Pest Control provided an outstanding service from start to finish. From the initial contact to the completion of the work, they were professional, responsive, and informative, even offering great aftercare advice. All nests were humanely removed, and they thoroughly cleaned the solar panels, gutters, windows, and driveway of any droppings. They installed a smart and discreet 3mm galvanised steel mesh with a fantastic 15-year guarantee. Highly recommend their services – a top-notch job all around!Posted on Tom FaradayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark and his colleague did a brilliant job at making our noisy upstairs neighbours look for a new place to squat in. They were very friendly, efficient and super tidy - Mark, not the pigeons. I’d certainly go back to them with any other pest issues and recommend them to anyone who needs to deal with their solar panels. Thanks guys!Posted on zeroaidTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark is a brilliant pest controller. I called him up today, advised him of the issue I was having and he promptly fitted me in and came round a couple of hours after we had spoken. Compared to other companies I reached out to off of the BPCA, A&H really came up trumps. Fantastic service, highly recommended. Mark went above and beyond to resolve the mouse problem in our property and was always very friendly, helpful and punctual. This is the second time I have used their services at two different properties and on both occasions they have done an outstanding job. Thanks so much!Posted on Ajay GognaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark fitted Pigeon guards to my flat roof house , replacing pigeon guards that had been poorly fitted by someone else only 6 months earlier. He arrived promptly on time, and provided a professional and friendly service. The work was completed very quickly and to a high standard. The pigeon guards even after a recent strong storm are in tact. Excellent workmanship and service.Posted on Paul FitchettTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Without doubt a really good job done with high quality mesh & fittings, guaranteed to keep the feral feathered fiends out for years to come and at a reasonable price too. Thanks to Mark and team for a great job.Posted on Emily MillerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely thrilled with the work completed by Mark and team today. My roof was an absolutely mess and now I can be proud of it. No pigeons harmed in the process and the mess was cleared from under the panels and from the gutters! They even threw in a bit of driveway cleaning too. Communication was brilliant and explanation of the process was delivered in detail. And just to add, Mark and his team were so friendly that even my neighbour commented on their good manner and friendliness. HIGHLY recommend. Thank you so much for sorting my mess of a roof out! :-)Posted on mark jacksonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For the past year we have had bird problems with Starlings trying to nest in the eves of our roof. Apart from the noise they made the starlings also badly stained our wall rendering with droppings and twigs on our porch roof. Decided to get bird proofing and found A & H Pest control on the internet. Mark was very understanding when I told him of our bird problems and he agreed to come round and bird proof the entry points of where the starlings gained access. He done a brilliant job on blocking the holes and putting spikes to deter the birds from coming back to nest. Would definitely recommend A & H Bird Control to anyone experiencing problems with birds.
When birds settle on a building, the visible mess is only part of the cost. Fouling clean-ups, blocked gutters, stained façades, damaged roof membranes, staff complaints and disrupted operations all add up. This page explains how reputable providers calculate bird proofing cost, why the ROI of bird proofing is strong for both homes and commercial sites, and how A&H Pest Control keeps pricing competitive, transparent and focused on long-term results. Every site is different. We don’t publish fixed prices because cost depends on access, area, species pressure, method (netting, post-and-wire, spikes, solar panel mesh, vent/eaves guards), and any decontamination required. What doesn’t change is our approach: a concise survey, a competitive, transparent quote, and a system that’s designed to last so you don’t pay twice.
Before choosing a system, we assess the building, behaviour and risks. Each factor below can move cost up or down; understanding them helps you plan sensibly.
Safe access is the backbone of any installation. Ground-reach work with simple ladders is quicker than multi-storey façades needing towers or roof access. Complex access doesn’t mean runaway budgets; it just has to be planned correctly so the job is safe and efficient.
Large plant decks and courtyards typically require netting (total exclusion). Long heritage ledges may favour post-and-wire (discreet perch denial). Narrow details like sign letters or conduits suit stainless spikes. Solar panel mesh and vent/eaves guards protect specific access points. The right method keeps material and labour tight.
Persistent pigeons and gulls require robust, well-specified systems. Jackdaws, starlings and sparrows push into small vents and eaves, so fine-detail guards and sealing are essential. Matching the system to the behaviour is the difference between a one-time cost and a recurring expense.
We never fit over fouling. Safe removal of droppings and nesting debris protects health, restores appearance and ensures adhesives and fixings bond properly. The extent of clean-down and waste disposal influences the quote.
Stainless steel wires, UV-stable bases and corrosion-resistant anchors cost more than DIY plastics — and pay back in lifespan. Coastal sites and high-wind roofs need heavier spec to stay tight and quiet through winter.
The ROI of bird proofing is best measured against the costs you’ll avoid over the next few seasons. Stopping the behaviour is cheaper than repeatedly cleaning symptoms.
Regular jet-washing and scrubbing racks up spend and still leaves etching on stone, render and coated metal. Effective proofing ends the cycle and preserves finishes.
Nesting and debris block outlets and downpipes. Overflow damages fascias and internal walls. Guards and exclusion stop the cause, reducing reactive call-outs and water ingress claims.
Fouling on steps and entrances is a slip hazard. Bird contamination on plant decks and walkways increases risk and cleaning effort. Proofed roofs and façades protect staff, visitors and maintenance teams.
Under-panel nesting compromises airflow, drags debris over cables, and drops fouling on modules. Solar panel mesh prevents access so performance stays steady and warranties are respected.
Bird nesting sites attract insects and, in some cases, rodents. Removing the roost removes the presence that draws other pests, saving follow-on treatments.
Homes benefit most when solar arrays and roofline entries are protected; the ROI shows up as fewer clean-ups, quieter mornings and protected gutters. Commercial sites see ROI in reduced façade washing, safer access routes, cleaner plant areas and fewer complaints or closures (for example, outdoor seating beneath ledges).
The aim is to select the simplest method that permanently stops the behaviour. That delivers the best value.
Scenario | Best System | Typical Value Drivers | Notes |
Pigeons under solar panels | Solar panel mesh | One-off fit, long life, protects efficiency | Clip-on, no drilling, warranty-safe |
Open roof decks / courtyards | Netting | Stops all access, reduces clean-ups | Add zipped access for maintenance |
Long heritage ledges | Post-and-wire | Discreet, durable, minimal visual impact | Requires correct tension |
Small details (signs, sills, conduits) | Stainless spikes | Low material cost, fast fit | Must cover edge-to-edge |
Vents, louvres, eaves | Guards & sealing | Prevents re-entry while keeping airflow | Appliance-safe selections |
DIY kits look cheaper but typically fail within a season, leading to more fouling and another purchase. Common issues include sagging nets that trap debris, plastic spikes that snap, adhesives that fall off hot ledges, and pre-cut solar skirts that leave corner gaps. The most expensive option is the one you have to buy twice. Professional proofing delivers durability, better appearance and guaranteed outcomes.
We don’t do vague numbers. Our proposals set out the method, materials, access plan and any decontamination work, along with guarantees and aftercare.
We design for your exact building — not a one-size kit. That avoids over-specifying and keeps labour tight. We also keep internal access methods efficient and coordinate with your team so downtime is minimal. Most importantly, we focus on permanent fixes, not temporary deterrents, so your cost is a one-off.
Tell us what you’re seeing, share a couple of photos from ground level if it’s safe, and we’ll provide a competitive, transparent quote that targets the behaviour and protects your building for the long term. Call 020 8295 3402.
