EXCELLENT Based on 391 reviews Posted on Rob & Theresa BlazyeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark customer service was excellent from the start. I filled in an online form and the next day he called me and we talked through the pigeon problem we were facing with our solar panels. He was able to come the following week and install the pigeon proofing. We had a few companies either never answer my emails or come and say that can't do it without an expense cherry picker or scaffold. Mark is polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. The mesh installed is top quality and all the cornering lines are matched up neatly and there isn't any overhang. Would 100% recommend him for your pest control needs.Posted on Dean BakerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a problem with pigeons nesting underneath our solar panels. Mark and his team at A & H Pest Control provided an outstanding service from start to finish. From the initial contact to the completion of the work, they were professional, responsive, and informative, even offering great aftercare advice. All nests were humanely removed, and they thoroughly cleaned the solar panels, gutters, windows, and driveway of any droppings. They installed a smart and discreet 3mm galvanised steel mesh with a fantastic 15-year guarantee. Highly recommend their services – a top-notch job all around!Posted on Tom FaradayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark and his colleague did a brilliant job at making our noisy upstairs neighbours look for a new place to squat in. They were very friendly, efficient and super tidy - Mark, not the pigeons. I’d certainly go back to them with any other pest issues and recommend them to anyone who needs to deal with their solar panels. Thanks guys!Posted on zeroaidTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark is a brilliant pest controller. I called him up today, advised him of the issue I was having and he promptly fitted me in and came round a couple of hours after we had spoken. Compared to other companies I reached out to off of the BPCA, A&H really came up trumps. Fantastic service, highly recommended. Support your local businesses.Posted on Christopher PriceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark went above and beyond to resolve the mouse problem in our property and was always very friendly, helpful and punctual. This is the second time I have used their services at two different properties and on both occasions they have done an outstanding job. Thanks so much!Posted on Ajay GognaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark fitted Pigeon guards to my flat roof house , replacing pigeon guards that had been poorly fitted by someone else only 6 months earlier. He arrived promptly on time, and provided a professional and friendly service. The work was completed very quickly and to a high standard. The pigeon guards even after a recent strong storm are in tact. Excellent workmanship and service.Posted on Paul FitchettTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Without doubt a really good job done with high quality mesh & fittings, guaranteed to keep the feral feathered fiends out for years to come and at a reasonable price too. Thanks to Mark and team for a great job.Posted on Emily MillerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely thrilled with the work completed by Mark and team today. My roof was an absolutely mess and now I can be proud of it. No pigeons harmed in the process and the mess was cleared from under the panels and from the gutters! They even threw in a bit of driveway cleaning too. Communication was brilliant and explanation of the process was delivered in detail. And just to add, Mark and his team were so friendly that even my neighbour commented on their good manner and friendliness. HIGHLY recommend. Thank you so much for sorting my mess of a roof out! :-)Posted on mark jacksonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For the past year we have had bird problems with Starlings trying to nest in the eves of our roof. Apart from the noise they made the starlings also badly stained our wall rendering with droppings and twigs on our porch roof. Decided to get bird proofing and found A & H Pest control on the internet. Mark was very understanding when I told him of our bird problems and he agreed to come round and bird proof the entry points of where the starlings gained access. He done a brilliant job on blocking the holes and putting spikes to deter the birds from coming back to nest. Would definitely recommend A & H Bird Control to anyone experiencing problems with birds.
Choosing the right bird proofing method is the difference between a roof that stays clean and quiet for years and one that’s back to square one by next season. This guide explains the main bird proofing methods we install across London & Southern England, when each technique is best used, how they’re fitted safely and legally, and why professional installation outperforms DIY kits every time. Before choosing a system, we assess three things on site:
Once those are clear, the method picks itself: netting for full exclusion, post-and-wire or spikes for perch removal, solar panel mesh for under-panel nesting, and engineered guards for vents, gutters and eaves.
Netting is the most decisive way to exclude pigeons and gulls from large areas where perching deterrents won’t cut it.
A correctly tensioned, perimeter-fixed net presents a physical barrier birds cannot penetrate. Mesh size is selected by species (e.g., 50 mm for pigeons, 75 mm for gulls), and stainless or galvanised fixings prevent sagging and failure.
We survey anchor points, set out stainless steel perimeter wires, tension evenly, and add zipped access panels where maintenance teams need entry. DIY netting commonly sags, traps debris or wildlife, and fails around corners; our installations are neat, humane and built to last.
Post-and-wire systems stop comfortable perching on long, straight edges without changing the building’s appearance.
Stainless posts are fixed at intervals with tensioned wires that destabilise the landing. Birds look elsewhere because the edge no longer offers a stable perch.
Wire tension, post spacing and fixing choice make or break performance. Poorly tensioned wire becomes a perch; incorrect adhesives pop in heat and cold. We use substrate-appropriate fixings and set the geometry to the species and wind load.
Spikes are the simplest way to remove perching on narrow, high-pressure spots.
Quality matters. Stainless steel on UV-stable bases, correct height and density for the species, and careful edge-to-edge coverage so birds can’t exploit small gaps.
Spikes do not block access under solar panels and are not suitable across large open surfaces or where birds are nesting deep in cavities. For those situations, choose mesh, netting or sealing.
Under-panel nesting is one of the fastest-growing complaints we solve. The only reliable fix is a custom-fitted mesh skirt around each array.
Panels are warm, sheltered and safe from predators. Birds carry sticks and debris under the array, fouling washes into gutters, and airflow is compromised.
We cut corrosion-resistant mesh on site and secure it with specialist clips to the panel frame (no drilling). This creates a continuous barrier with proper ventilation clearances and a flush, discreet finish. The installation is warranty-safe and backed by our long guarantee.
Pre-cut strips leave gaps at corners, cable runs and brackets. Glue-on or screw-through fittings either fall off or risk panel damage and voided warranties. A custom, clip-based system is the only reliable approach.
Exclusion at the detail level stops jackdaws, starlings and sparrows gaining access where general deterrents can’t reach.
Maintain airflow and drainage while denying access. We match grille types to appliance and building requirements and use corrosion-resistant fixings so guards last through winter cycles.
Cheeping colonies in spring, constant in-and-out flights to rectangular vents or tiny cracks along soffits, and light straw nesting materials around openings.
Loud nesting noise near bedrooms or offices; debris pulled into ducts; fouling below nests; potential insect transfer from nest materials.
Pairs perched repeatedly on TV brackets, ridge tiles, and solar panel edges. Soft cooing, small twig nests, lighter fouling patches than pigeons.
Fouling on patios and below panels; light blocked by droppings on modules; recurrent nesting under under-supported panel edges.
Distinct calls, large twig nests, deliberate manipulation of loose flashing or flimsy deterrents, and raids on bin areas.
Pulled-up felt or flashing; dislodged cheap spike strips; scattered waste attracting more pests; loud territorial calls.
Gel dishes and sound boxes are marketed as quick fixes. In practice, birds habituate quickly, gels degrade in weather, and placement errors create patchy results. For short-term, low-pressure situations they can help, but for anything beyond light nuisance we advise engineered solutions that physically remove perching or access.
| Scenario / Need | Best Method | Why it Works | Notes |
| Keep pigeons off entire plant deck | Netting | Total exclusion | Add zipped access for maintenance |
| Discreet heritage façade protection | Post-and-wire | Low-visibility perch denial | Stainless posts/wire; correct tension |
| Stop perching on signs and sills | Spikes | Simple, robust | Use stainless; cover edge-to-edge |
| Birds under solar panels | Solar panel mesh | Blocks access, keeps airflow | Clip-on, no drilling, warranty-safe |
| Jackdaws in vents/eaves | Guards & sealing | Allows airflow, blocks entry | Match grille to appliance requirements |
| Gulls on parapets | Heavy spikes or wire | Removes stable landing | Use robust fixings and spacing |
DIY kits often appear cheaper but fail within seasons, leading to more fouling, call-outs and replacement costs. Professional bird proofing is the cost-effective route because it works first time and keeps working.
We inspect species signs, pressure levels and fabric details, then recommend the right method (or combination) for the behaviour we need to stop.
Before proofing, we safely remove fouling and nesting debris, disinfect affected surfaces and prepare fixings so the new system adheres and performs.
We use stainless and UV-stable materials, align to the building geometry and maintain access routes (zips in nets, removable mesh sections near isolators).
You get guidance on care and any simple checks, plus our long guarantee on materials and workmanship.
All wild birds are protected by law. We never harm birds and we do not interfere with active nests. Where health and safety or serious damage justifies action under the relevant licences, we plan timing and methods accordingly, documenting what we do so you remain compliant.
We can build simple inspection into your annual roof or plant maintenance to keep systems working perfectly.
Tell us what you’re seeing, share a couple of photos if safe, and we’ll recommend the method that solves it for good.
