Make Your Garden Looking Nice By Ridding Yourself Of Pests

Even though you will never have a completely pest-free garden, you can largely maintain the results of your labours by taking appropriate action. The thing that makes it challenging is that insects hide from predators, under fallen leaves, weed growth, and soil. Your first line of attack must be to eliminate their hiding places wherever possible. Get rid of the rotting matter, the leaves and weeds that supply shelter to the insects. You need to turn the soil on a routine basis, taking care to break up the clods. This will help eradicate any hiding locations in the soil.

The worst thing there is related to having a garden is walking out to check on your plants and discovering holes in all the plants that looked fine the last time you saw them. Many of these holes which may have damaged your plants are from pests. The most typical ones are slugs, worms and birds, but you will also find caterpillars, snails and perhaps, moles.

Pests must be removed without delay if you want to keep up with the good health and look of your garden. The longer they remain, the trickier they’re going to be to get rid of. A garden contributes to a house when you keep it up, and keep it in top shape.

To keep the diseases and harmful insects at bay, you should also use dormant spray. You want to do this in February or March, as soon as your plants and flowers are dormant. The dormant spray won’t be effective unless of course the instructions are thoroughly followed. One more reason to follow the directions is whenever used incorrectly it could be lethal for your plants. Just like some insects can be harmful for your garden, there are others that are healthy, and so try and retain them. There is another class of garden pest, that lives not on the ground but around the sky – birds. Trying to chase them away doesn’t accomplish much good, but a solution you might try is to put up a bird feeder. Let the birds feed on what you have inside your feeder instead of what’s in your garden. It’s going to save you money in the long run, and become part of your yard decoration.

Even though having a dog would be helpful, it certainly is not going to fix the situation entirely. Often moles can be a garden owner’s horror. The signs that they can indeed be around are dying plants and piles of soil. These little animals certainly understand how to make a nuisance of themselves. They can be light brown, or black, or even white, plus they are between 5 and 14 inches long, with small tails. Setting traps is an excellent method to try to eliminate them. To do so successfully you want to find their tunnels and choose the right position for the traps You can also try triggering a smoke bomb within the entrance to a tunnel, which could force a mole to the surface or suffocate it.

You may well need a professional if your problem is multiple pests in the house.
